It’s really hard to describe this flavor, as it’s quite different from other syrups that are based on sweet ingredients.
It’s not quite as sweet tasting, but still definitely a desert ingredient. The flavor is almost a bit earthy…
It’s really, really good and works as a flavoring syrup. It would totally work on pancakes, in addition to the more traditional uses.
The flavoring on top of the sweetness is more intense than the typical maple syrup. It’s not neutral at all.
It’s thick, like honey, but it doesn’t seem to solidify as much, so it stays liquidy enough to dispense. The bottle is good at dispensing it.

This Chung Jung One O’Food Korean Cooking Malt Syrup, Oligo Syrup, Korean Pantry Staple Essentials (Rice Oligo, 1.2kg) is just like honey, a bit pricey come up but good for cooking especially fried rice that is sweet or any other sweetened dishes. It is easy to use, and in a pretty sturdy container.
Great taste and reasonably priced
I really like this maltose (malt sugar). I use them to make cakes and other desert. If you have not tried malt sugar before, they taste a bit sweet with some rice aftertaste. They are not your typical sugar/syrup because they are not that sweet compared to typical sugar or maple syrup. Another thing I want to mention is this product here is very reasonably priced compared to other ones. So if you want to get some malt sugar, I highly recommend it.

I purchased both the Oligo (clear) and the Apple (amber). Unfortunately, I can’t submit a separate review for each. First, the Apple: it’s just a flavored corn syrup!!! It’s not made from enzymatic processon apples or apple juice. It’s flavored corn syrup WITH HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (HFCS) ADDED. Flavor isn’t bad, but don’t think you’re getting anything special, or that the oligosaccharides are from apples. Next the Oligo: Based on the listing, I thought it would be rice-based rather than corn-based. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this product. It’s just a mildly sweet syrup. Pretty much what you would expect from corn syrup.

I wasn’t sure what to expect. The syrup has a nice, rich flavor. I used it to sweeten coffee. It reminds me of Agave. If you’re vegan, this is a nice alternative to honey. I ate it on hot cereal (steel-cut oats) with cinnamon. The flavor was rich. I’m not sure if it requires refrigeration after opening. It comes in a plastic bottle. I would have preferred glass. After much research, I began to understand this product as the listing description was vague and at the time of my order, does not contain any ingredient information. The first ingredient is “oligosaccharides” which I have discovered is a healthier form of sweetener found in many plants. It is not absorbed into the body as well so it does not turn to fat. It can even serve as a prebiotic. This is good. However, the syrup mixes in high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup as well, so you get the good with the very bad. The apple flavor is very mild – in fact, the flavor overall is mild. It reminds me of a bottle of karo syrup. Overall, due to the HFCS and regular corn syrup, though, this is not a sweetener I want to use.

Leider fehlt in der Beschreibung auch die Deklaration der Nährwerte, hier ist sie: Nährwerte/100 g: 320 kcal Fett < 0,5 g Kohlenhydrate 79 g davon Zucker 56 g Eiweiß: 0,9 Salz: 0,02 g Fazit: Diese mangelnde Sorgfalt bei vielen Produktbeschreibungen gefällt mir gar nicht. Der Kunde hat Anspruch darauf, genau zu erfahren, was und wieviel er für sein Geld bekommt. Auch die restliche Mindesthaltbarkeit von 4 Monaten ist viel mir zu gering. 2 Sterne = gefällt mir nicht
